Rwanda Men’s Resource Center (RWAMREC) has through Promundo supported Prevention + project on August 26, 2020 started conducting a district level coordination meeting with education sector staffs to discuss the project achievements in their respective schools and extension of program H/M- a gender equality promotion, SRHR education and Gender Based Violence (GBV) prevention curriculum for the youth.
The coordination meetings target 64 schools supported by Prevention+ Project. 147 Participants who are directors, representatives trained teachers, sector education officers and staffs from district education department are expected to attend. The meeting is happening while Prevention+ is coming to end this October 2020.
The meeting is mainly assessing the project achievements and extension program H/M for Youth for Change Clubs, challenges and way forward. The meeting is also discussing modification of some activities due to COVID-19 situation, phase out strategies and sustainability of project activities of youth for change.
Through this productive meeting, RWAMREC presented some activities that has been stopped due to COVID-19 and also appreciated head teachers and teachers who have been mentoring youth for change clubs since 2016 which work in Karongi Secondary Schools.
These meetings are also an occasion for school representatives to receive their certificates for outstanding contribution in prevention+ activities. To respect COVID-19 containment measures, participants are grouped into sites, Mubuga, Gashari and Rubengera.
