Faith for Gender Transformation: Rwanda Faith Leaders’ training on Gender Based Violence (GBV) Prevention and response.

Religious leaders discuss their role in preventing GBV

Participants observed that the culture in Rwanda and in Africa in general, normally discourage women participation as manifested through proverbs and slogans. It was said that due to the privileges men Men/boys seem to think that they do not have anything that makes them feel unfortunate while females do.
Females tend to feel like they are oppressed and not given due value in the family and communities, they for example say that they are called helpers even when they are taking a leading role in the family or community.
