The Rwanda Men’s Resource Centre (RWAMREC) Executive Director, Fidele Rutayisire has addressed the Tunis Gender Equality Forum on Challenging Traditional Masculinities and Changing Power Relations in Fragile and Conflict-Affected Situations.
While presenting on a panel, their discussion focused on engaging men and boys and addressing masculinities in a transformative manner to change gendered power dynamics and achieve more equitable gender norms and peaceful outcomes with specific examples of RWAMREC experiences.
Gender Equality Forum on Challenging Traditional Masculinities and Changing Power Relations in Fragile and Conflict-Affected Situations
RWAMREC’s vision is a Rwandan peaceful society in which women and men share roles and responsibilities of raising families, and governing society in equality and respect of human rights.
It promotes gender equality through the reconstruction of non-violent identities of men, the adoption of healthy masculine behaviors and men’s empowerment to be supportive partners, role models for other men; and agents of change in promoting healthy families, men’s health, women’s socio-economic development and GBV prevention.
