From March 13-17th 2017, RWAMREC staff like other development partners of KARONGI district have been involved in the accountability week. The stadium was decorated with tents and RWAMREC stand was visited by around 1,300 visitors who were attracted by the messages written on a pull up banner, banner, Prevention + modules flyers and T-Shits. Visitors asked many questions about the Prevention+ programme in schools and communities. Special guests such as the Minister of Disaster Management, KARONGI district Mayor, Vice Mayors, Rwanda Defence Force, Police, members district consultative council, Joint Action Development Forum committee, Health Care Professionals, University lecturers etc visited RWAMREC stand. They all received Prevention+ T-Shirts with an anti-GBV message mobilizing people to become Agents for Change in the fight against GBV. The Minister wished RWAMREC could mobilize refugees and surrounding communities to prevent GBV.
The visibility of the Prevention+ has also been broadcast through Isangano Community Radio during the accountability week. During the same week, Imena newspaper visited our stand and wrote an article in Kinyarwanda on RWAMREC Prevention+ activities achieved so far while Karongi District Facebook page also published Prevention+ items displayed during the accountability week.
Below are some photos where the staff in Karongi are explaining RWAMREC mission and PREVENTION+ project during the Open Day.
